The elf is one of the native Flanaess races collectively known as the Flan. They live in small tribes and are best known for their grace and relative shyness towards other races. They value their spiritual connection with their surrounding nature, which is central to their faith of the Seldarine.
There are several Elven varieties that can be found throughout the Flanaess. In order of commonality, they are:
Elves are said to be born without physical flaws, and thus have a natural beaty about them. Wood elves and Snow elves can be slightly shorter than an average human, while high elves and drow are generally slightly taller than a human.
Elves are known to be elegant, graceful and composed. An elf is not keen to reveal their emotions, making them somewhat hard to read for those not familiar with elves. Since they live in more isolated regions of the world, elves generally do not have a lot of contact with non-elves, making them wary of other races. This has garnered them a reputation of being somewhat xenophobic. However, elves who are more familiar with other races, are more likely to treat them as their kin.
Despite living in separate tribes, elves do maintain contact with one another through the vast network of tree roots running underground. Oak trees are considered sacred, and are often turned into shrines in which they can communicate with other Elven tribes to warn one another of incoming threats.
Elves live very long lives compared to other races. On average, most elven races live up to 800 years. They reach full maturity around 100 years old.
