Ferrond is an old nation and historical term referring to a region where the successor states of the Viceroyalty of Ferrond now lie; it was a former province of the western reaches of the Great Kingdom. It is a shorthand way of saying "the old area which now includes different modern nations, but used to be called "Ferrond". Modern states that were part of Ferrond include Furyondy, which is considered Ferrond's successor state, the Shield Lands, and Perrenland
Ferrond was prominent in the second century CY and early third century CY. The nation remained from c.100 CY to 254 CY, but with the death of Viceroy Stinvri, nobles "installed Stinvri’s heir as Thrommel I, king of Furyondy."
